Keytones

Keytones is a customizable Mac menu bar application that provides distinct auditory and visual feedback while typing. Unlike standard mechanical keyboard simulators, Keytones differentiates key groups—such as uppercase, lowercase, space bar, and modifiers—by playing distinct sounds for each. This allows users to instantly hear unwanted Caps Lock activations or missed Shift presses. Users can customize sound pitch, length, damping, and volume for each key group, mix built-in audio, or import custom audio files. For silent environments, Keytones features Visual Feedback mode, which pulses a soft glowing border at the screen edge with every keystroke. It also offers per-app blacklist and whitelist controls, triple-tap modifier key muting, Siri and Apple Shortcuts integration, and complete privacy without keystroke logging.
