hotcell
Self-hostable local sandbox SDK for AI agents running on Mac, Linux, or bare metal, featuring keyless egress and microVM or container isolation.
About hotcell
What the tool does and who it's for
hotcell is an open-source, self-hostable sandbox SDK and CLI inspired by Cloudflare Sandbox SDK. It enables developers and AI agents to spin up, manage, and tear down isolated execution sandboxes on Mac, Linux, or bare metal. Built with security and developer experience in mind, hotcell prevents credential leakage by using revocable per-sandbox tokens instead of injecting raw API keys, enforces hard spend caps and egress controls, and supports multiple isolation technologies like Docker, Apple VZ, and Firecracker microVMs.
