About Oats

What the tool does and who it's for

Oats is a free, open-source, local-first meeting note-taking application designed for privacy and non-intrusive recording. Unlike conventional note-takers, Oats runs directly on your Mac or Windows machine without sending a bot to join your call or forcing your audio stream into third-party servers. It records system audio across popular calling software—such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams—as well as live hallway chats and phone calls. After each meeting, Oats generates quick digests, full summaries, action items per participant, and meeting assessment quality scores based on what was actually said. Users can process meetings entirely offline with on-device local LLMs, or optionally connect to the ariso.ai cloud backend for enhanced transcription, multi-language support, speaker recognition, auto-tracking follow-ups, and coaching.
